Russian Romanticism: Fantasies and Reflections for Violin and Piano
Sofia Devutskaya (violin) · Elena Ulyanova (piano), répétiteur at the Moscow Conservatory
Framed by contrasting pieces for violin and piano by Tchaikovsky, the evening brings two historical premieres. Apollinary Kątski's fantasy The Nightingale — a virtuoso setting of Alyabyev's romance — returns to the public after many years. The programme also includes the concert duo God Save the Tsar by the brothers Henryk and Józef Wieniawski, on the theme of the Russian imperial anthem by Alexei Lvov.
